Help with this lawyer?

I live in virginia and last september got a speeding ticket in nc. I don't know any lawyers there but asked a few people I didn't know that well and this guy told me about a good lawyer he had so I hired him. well, the guy never called me about the case I guess he figured it wasn't that serious and he could do it on his own, but everytime I called the secretaries told me the case was moved to a later date, a later date, etc well they told me the case would finally be july 31. I called first week of august since I knew he wouldn't call me to see what happened with the case, they told me he must have the file still b/c they don't see it and I left my number to call me back. I've called them several times after and they always take a message. They make it seem like my case isn't that serious cuz it's just a speeding ticket but I would think a lawyer would talk to the person about it (I had things that went on that could get me off) so I had to end up writing a letter asking him to call

Threaten him with the NC State Bar. That should get his attention. Do you know what court it is? If it is a regular speeding ticket it will probably be the district court covering the county you were caught in. If you know what court it is you can always call and ask them.

Some of the urban counties will accept payment online (for a fee). Many of the rural ones won't.

If you were charged with doing more than 15mph over or were caught in a construction zone, your license WILL be suspended for a minimum of 30 days upon conviction. I believe that means you will be suspended in VA as well. You may want to consider that before seeking to settle this matter.
Seems like this guy is far too busy for you. Why did you hire a lawyer for a speeding ticket anyway?

My advice would be to first, send something in writing (a one-page fax should do it) saying that he's not your lawyer anymore. Then, contact the court that issued the citation and find out who to pay. Then pay it and be done with it.
If you have already paid the lawyer you got s!~!
