I want to file a complaint against a police officer how do I do it?

My boyfriend and I got into a fight. I went to the hospital to check if I was okay. The doctor called the police. I spoke with the police over the phone and I told him that I didn't want to press charges. The police called back to the doctor and told him that he was coming to see me. When he came he didn't explain my rights or his rights against domestic violence. He handed me some papers to write down my statement. I had explained that I didn't want to press any charges, he said that they will just keep it on file. I wrote my statement and he took some pictures. Afterwards I asked him what he was going to do and he said that he was going to arrest my boyfreind. He left didn't give me any information nothing. he didn't even give me a card to contact him. i had to call 411 to get the police station's number. Now my boyfriend is facing 10 years. I feel like this new rookie cop was bored out of his mind that he too excited that he forgot the procedures that he had to do.

If criminal charges are filed, it is up to the judge and, in some cases, a jury to decide whether there is enough evidence for a conviction.

He was doing his job. It was probably a saftey issue. I would call the police department and talk to them. And I would also leave your bf because dear you dont deserve to be abused. sorry to be judgemental. best of luck take care.
this is the situation, you went to the hospital the hospital by law is required to notify the police of suspected domestic violence, the police where required to come out and investigate the alleged crime

at that point you are the victim in the alleged crime and the police are investigating in this fact pattern they are under no legal obligation to inform you of your boyfriends rights and the information you give, and you do not need to know your rights since you are the victim

now at this point if the police have your statement, pictures of the alleged crime, the district attorney will not need your testimony to convict your boyfriend
yes go to the police station and file a report while your working to keep your boyfriend out of trouble

and why dont you sue the president while your at it-protect your boy friend so he can beat you up again-get em mall they dont know the joy of being used and beaten up they are all so blind. why not have your boy friend take care of the police officer trying to protect you-the practice will help him do a better job on you next time.

I can't believe this. There are many other violent cases where police don't even move a finger. Geee I guess the officer needed to have some case in his record to prove that he was working.
