How old do children have to be before they have to have seperate rooms?
Is it different if you own your own house as to renting from the council?
Answers:
I think that you mean children of opposite sex sharing rooms. There is no actual obligation to split them up at all, but for the purposes of council accommodation you would be classified as being statutorily overcrowded if two members of the family not married or cohabiting were having to share a room. Once one of your children reaches the age of 10 and is obliged to share a bedroom with a sibling of the opposite sex, then ideally the council should rehouse you. In a country which is bursting at the seams, this is often no more than a theoretical possibility. This link will tell you more. http://www.communities.gov.uk/index.asp?...
Ten years of age. And no, I don't think it changes if you own your own house or not, unless there are special financial circumstances, etc.
Depends on the laws where you live.
It isn't a case of them having to have separate rooms - it's down to you as a parent to decide when you feel they should have separate rooms ethically, and indeed if space allows.
I don't think that there is a legal age but local councils would try to provide suitable accommodation if the kids are male and female. Living in your own house is up to the parents because who else can do anything about it.
I know when I rened from the council a child was not entitled to their own room until the age of three. There is no limit on the age of siblings sharing rooms if they are of the same gender. If you have a boy and girl I know that the age was about 7 or eight.
there's nothing statutory set down in law. just a matter of guardian's commonsense. In your own home, the rules are up to you.
10 years for different sex children. Its no different if you own your house or rent but be warned..if you have a 2 bedroomed house with 2 opposite sex kids over age 10.your council (if you are applying for housing on these grounds) may suggest you and your partner sleep on sofa and allow the kids separate rooms!.that is the responce i have witnessed our council to suggest.i hope your local authority are better than ours
