Is a class C required in california for operation of motorized sscooter after januray 1 2006?
can someone confirm this with me on california dmv.gov. again is a class c or higher required for someone over 18 years getting a m2 motorized scooter rating in california after januray 2006
Answers:
No it's not. And I believe you are referring to Assembly Bill 1748. I know this because I'm the one who recited it to you. The new law created a *loophole* so to speak to allow you to operate your scooter with a Class M2 license without having to take the behind-the-wheel test anymore.
Now you can take the rules of the road written portion of the test to get your M2. You do not need to take the car driving test now, but if you want an M1 you will need to take an additional motorcycle test in the parking lot of the DMV or other approved facility that would provide you a DL 389.
You're going to want to read California Vehicle Code, section 12804.9, subdivision (b), paragraphs (3)-(5).
Or call the CA DMV if you don't believe me. 1-800-777-0133
