Well, the first thing you need to understand is the term "frivolous law suit". This generally applies to individuals seeking large cash awards from corporations with deep pockets, regardless of their own culpability.
We have become a very litigious society and most reasonable corporate boards would rather pay a few thousand in an out of court settlement rather than face the negative publicity as well as expense of a civil suit, hence you get the frivolous suits, that may have little to no foundation, but they are banking on that corporate desire to avoid court action as well as as the public exposure that it may cause.
This leads me to believe that if a corporation is actually prepared to take civil suit against you, they probably have cause and have substantial damages that they attribute to your action.
Now if this is indeed "frivolous intimidation tactics" call their bluff, tell them you would be anxious to have your side of the story a matter of public record.
If you actually wronged them and they have a case, you may want to consider proposing a settlement agreement of your own.
ACLU or maybe you can get a good attorney to take your case Pro-Bono!
