I live in los angeles california... Im 16 and got a ticket for posession of tobacco. I have already gone to court for this ticket and now i have to pay or take a smoking class and pay less. but havent done that yet. can i still go to the dmv for my license test or do i need to clear that stuff first?... i do not have a warrant and i have 4 months left to pay the fine. so i should be ok?

The only statutes of which I am aware which affect a minor's drivers license for non-driving offenses involve the use or possession of alcohol. I do not believe your smoking ticket will have any other effect (except on your lungs).
If you don't have a warrant, you should be okay but I would reccommend taking the class and paying the fine before you go up there because if you get that ticket for being in poessession of tobacco you aren't supposted to get your license and you really should have thought about that before you started smoking, my Daddy has emphysema, my Grandma is dying of Lung Cancer, and my Uncle Died of Lung Cancer. You will die from that tobacco and it's not worth it. Just say no.
well as far as I am aware a smoking ticket has nothing to do with your license never even heard of someone getting a smoking ticket but still. I see no reason for it to affect you getting a license plus if it was me I would drive with out one if they wont give it to me. Los angeles cops have more to do than pull people over for stupid reasons. So just don't do anything stupid. I'm from the east coast and I used to get pulled over all the time I mean from the time I was 16 to 18 I probably got pulled over 30 or more time also got arrested once that was interesting. I move to los angeles after I turned 18 and since then I have only been pulled over when I go back east to visit family. granted I no longer live in LA but lived there for a while. Don't do anything stupid and you shouldn't have to worry about anything. Oh and don't listen to rashida above me. I mean I don't smoke and I agree it's bad for you. But it's not our job or the laws to save people from them selves. you know the risk of smoking right? well if you don't find out and assuming you do then no reason you shouldn't smoke other than it's the law. My mother got lung cancer and she doesn't even smoke. my father smokes a pack a day and is as healthy as a horse according to the doctor. This is supposed to be a free country but take a look at all the laws it's rediculous we don't even really have the freedom of speech. I mean a white actor calls a black guy a niger or a hispanic person a **** or a black actor calls a white guy a kracker hell an actor calls a gay guy a ****** and it's the top news and the entire black community is seeking revenge for this "outrage" and I bet you a dollar there is some legal action that can be taken. ... what was the question lol hell yahoo wont even let me use the words but you get the idea
