Any other liberals think Michael Moore is a fat slob?

For once, I'm going to have to agree with Conservatives here. Michael Moore sucks. He is a disgrace to the left side viewpoint.

He uses the same scare tactics that the right uses, he distorts facts, and makes me want to be a righty. Farenheit 9/11 has him walking into a Canadian middle class neighborhood home to prove that they don't lock doors. I don't lock my doors in the middle of the afternoon, and I live in a much worse part of town than that guy did. The health care movie - he compares an upper class British hospital to an inner city American hospital. Of course the upper class hospital is going to be better!

Though I agree with many of his general views, Michael Moore is an idiot. Anyone else think the same way?

P.S. fareinHYPE 9/11, the conservative response to Moore's movie, is just as bad.
YOU'RE NOT UN-AMERICAN IF YOU'RE TRYING TO IMPROVE THE COUNTRY.

Good answer, Lisa.

You're worse than the cons when you attack someone because of something that's irrelevant to the argument. Moore uses a lot of propaganda, but not compared to the Bush administration!

You can disagree with points he made in his movies, but I don't think the specific examples you cited are really proving your point. (His point was that if you walk into Americans' houses, you're far more likely to get a gun pulled on you, instead of invited inside for lemonade. And as far as the hospitals, I think his point was that higher-class hospitals shouldn't BE -- health care has to be the same for everyone.)
You totally decreased the power of your argument when you used a falacious ad hominem referring to his weight. Next time take that element out if you want to make a compelling arguement. He brings up a lot of valid issues. Whether he's correct in all his points is another story.
I don't think anyone should criticize Michael Moore's movies unless they have seen them himself, otherwise you're just regurgitating partisan drivel.
I thought they were pretty good movies. I read a conservative book attacking him and the best they could come up with was that he had a lawsuit with "Mother Love."
A conservative friend told me about two supposed lies in Columbine, and I watched the movie and those things weren't even in it. People are just makin cr*p up.
See the movies and decide for yourself - God, whatever happened to having an informed opinion and making up your own mind (seems to be a thing of the past - sound bites are much easier).
I am sure that whether Michael Moore is fat or a slob, or whether he raises legitimate issues or not, fabricates facts or not that he is making a boat load of money and at the end of the day isn't that the American Dream. I like ad hominem with grits.
i like michael moore, because he gets people *talking*

...and thinking

he may slant his views..anyone involved in entertainment is going to..but I think ultimately he accomplishes his goal

besides w/o the michael moores of the world there wouldn't be another side at all
I have to agree with you. I am very liberal and Michael Moore is absolutely ridiculous. The problem is that liberals just want to hate conservatives so much, they lose sight of what is true and what is spin. I think Michael Moore is an excellent film maker, and could even be the Karl Rove of the Democratic Party (if he affiliated himself with them). But his hypocritical use of half-truths and misdirection are a little too short sighted.

I have not seen Sicko and don't intend to until it comes out on DVD, but I have seen Roger & Me, Bowling for Columbine and Farenheit 9/11. The worst part is that people come out of the movie feeling smarter, but sounding dumber...You can tell which people looked at it with a critical eye, and which ones glazed over the details. I thought it was pretty insulting when he implied US Senators were gutless because their grandchildren weren't serving in Iraq. Many, many Senators have distinguished military service records, which is more that can be said for Mr. Moore.

I'm not going to disagree with everyone who loves his movies, it just to frustrating trying to talk to people who have already made up their minds, I just plead to look at all of Moore's arguments with a critical eye and ask yourself if his insinuations have more of a basis than just speculation
