What's your excuse for being an affluent American?
Ever since 1949, this country has done more harm than good for the rest of the world, while we bloat up and watch cable. Why do you let it continue?
(I do because I can't figure out how to fight it without standing around like a retard with a sign in my hand and screaming to a bunch of other retards that are so marginalized that they make no difference.)

Whomever said I was? One does what one can.
I was born here. That's my excuse. And if I saw you holding up one of those signs, I'd run you over with my Chevy Silverado.
You could start by voting for Ron Paul in 08! :)
I don't need an excuse. And I dispute your opinion. I think this country has done a lot of good in the world. A lot of the world would be a lot worse off without us. Ask Kuwait.
I do not agree with your statement about the US doing more harm than good since 1949. This is because it is not something that can be agreed or disagreed with, it is a fact. One way I think I can make a difference is to use my right to vote for anyone progressive (liberal) and NOT backward or corrupt (conservative). Of course, we are all consumers, and the power of our money is underrated. Just like lobbyists control Washington with money (particularly oil lobbyists, how else did this war over nothing start which solely benefits Halliburton), we can let our purchases do the talking. Make companies realize that outsourcing is actually going to cost them money, because we will not buy from them. Of course this last point has little to do with f***ing up the rest of the world, it is a problem that we can help to solve. Obviously the first point is ALL about our ruining of the world and our national reputation.
Summed Up:
1) Vote for the good guys (not religious extremists AKA evangelicals AKA conservatives AKA REPUBLICANS AKA Right-Wingers AKA NAZIS) Sorry about how long that took.
2) Use the power of your wallet
This is how to save America and the world. There are no excuses, but you do not need any if you give it everything you can.
***Many of the above answers mentioned Iraq as being better off. But in case you did not notice, we are killing them faster than Hussein.
Look at it from their perspective. Pretend US is run by a dictator...say George W. Bush. He needlessly kills Americans (which he does, by the way), and holds a nuclear weapon stockpile (which Hussein did not, but lets pretend he did). If Iraq invaded the US, and it took the lives of 100,000 US civilians to liberate us from Bush, you would be pissed at them, just like they are with us. Always think about it from someone else's position; if you would, you could understand why THEY ARE IN THE RIGHT TO DEFEND AGAINST THE INVADERS!
Iraq was not in a civil war when we got there, but they sure are now.
