Question about notary classes?

I took a notary class last year. I passed the class and the test. It was all legal and paid for. All I had left to do was do the fingerprinting to get my license and then buy my supplies. THen the law changed somehow making the class I took and all that null and void. THe school hadn't been licensed properly according to the new law. I was told I'd have to take the course again. Yet right after that the school was licensed or whatever and the course was exactly the same. So why did they insist I had to pay hundreds of dollars to take the exact same course all over again and why can't I get compensated. I just can't seem to get over this loss of several hundred dollars and both the state's and the school's totally disregard of how it affected me. Any tips?

You should call the notary office with the Secretary of State and explain the problem -- the requirement is that it has to be a state-approved course, but if this was during a lapse of licensing or something that wasn't your fault, they might be able to cut you some slack and let it count, as long as you passed the test.
