What do you consider to be a fair punishment for these counts of murder?
Premediated murder
Murder without premedition and not in sudden passion
Voluntary manslaughter

Fair.? That's putting a numeric value on a victim's life.
If I had to come up with numbers -- life in prison (or death penalty in extreme cases) for premeditated murder.
Murder without premeditation -- 20~30 years in isolation -- based on the concept that anyone is going to change over that amount of time (a whole generation has gone by).
Voluntary manslaughter -- depends on the circumstances, and what dropped it down from murder -- but I can see anywhere from 5 years for an accidental death in a drunken brawl to 25 years if the person created the situation that lead to the death.

I've heard rumor that a bunch of people got together and created the perfect justice system.
Plus I still live in a world where accidents happen.
Despite the attempt by many to place blame on the injured or ill for their own illness or injury.
We tho brain washed to believe we have control over everything in our lives. In fact do not.
