People who use the term "retarded" when referring to someone with a different opinion are generally the ones who look less than intelligent -- IMHO.
Saying that they need to stop is one thing. It is your right to publicly disagree. However, saying that they need to "be stopped" implies forcing them to stop because you disagree. That means that if you end up disagreeing with the powers that be, then you too can be silenced. I woud rather protect the rights of everyone, than risk losing mine.
