Does anyone know what a PETIT THEFT FIRST DEGREE means?

Bail is $5,000. He has had a prior arrest in TX[this is in Fla]for possession of pot, but his daddy is rich so he got off.Now he's living in another state with no Daddy to bail him out.Does anyone know how serious this is? Thanks!

Answers:
if the property stolen is valued at $100 or more, but less than $300, the offender commits petit theft of the first degree, punishable as a misdemeanor of the first degree, as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

doesn't seem too serious.. he'll probably just get fined and probation depending on the judge, his lawyer, and his past record
Florida Petit Theft involves the taking of any property that's valued at more than $100 and less than $300. The crime is classified as a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable by up to one year of incarceration.
it just means that he took something with the intent to not return it...a theft. I don't know what his conviction will be though. They might not even bring TX into this because it is a different state. The punishments usually fit the crime when it comes to theft.how much did he steal? The more that was stolen(more valuable) the bigger the punishment
