Is it just me or are criminals getting smarter?
With all the shows on TV like csi and such doesn't it seem to be more like a home course on covering your tracks or"Being a better crook 101"?
Answers:
It's not just you. Interestingly, I had this conversation with my sheriff today. (I'm a lawyer who represents a county, including a detention center and sheriff's department) My sheriff truly believes that criminal activity has changed since CSI became popular. He told me he never used to see bleach used to clean up a crime scene. He gave me numerous other examples, all of which I had seen on CSI. Ironically, I love the original CSI--the one set in Las Vegas--and so does the sheriff. However, he feels almost obligated to watch it to keep current with his job.
i think it's just you.
I would actually hope that it might scare more crooks. I mean, a lot of those detectives piece together clues that look outrageously obscure and unrelated, only to put together enough evidence to garner a conviction, or at least an indictment, fairly quickly.
At least, after watching some of those shows, it makes me think even harder about how I would get away with committing a serious crime.
I realize it's just television (and movies), and that the criminal justice and legal system isn't entirely accurate, especially in terms of speed and efficiency. But it would probably be in the back of my mind about how they are going to film the next episode based upon the local police solving the crime that I am considering committing.
I think its the opposite - hard to believe, but the cops are getting even dumber.
No I agree with you. Crooks are getting smarter and they are getting away with it just as smooth as a baby's bottom.
well most the stuff they show on t.v. isn't always true they do it to scare you, but criminals do get smarter after getting getting caught so many times they firgure out what they did wrong and fix it the next time
I don't think so. With the police getting more incompetent and the government taking away our guns, why would they get any smarter?
A dumb stupid drunk with a gun can make a fortune and never get caught.
No... what planet you are from.
O.K. how could you not get smarter when in jail/prison you have room and board, free schooling, internet access, all the law books you could ever want and nothing but time to study.
You do the math
Criminals are not smart, they get caught sooner or later. It's the system that puts people in a bad way by taking their jobs. Pretty soon they will want the militia to come and take over the crime they are promoting.
No matter how smart a criminal thinks he is there's an old saying that says that "There's always someone out there who is faster on the draw than you are and the more you play with a gun the faster you're going to to find that person." What that means in this situation is that no matter how meticulous a criminal is when they commit their crime, there will always be somebody who will be capable of figuring out what they did and how they did it. It's next to impossible these days to "make a clean getaway". It used to be "as long as I'm not seen I can get away with it." Not so anymore!
acctually the criminals think they are being smart but they tend to leave more evidence when they are trying to cover their tracks
