Legal name problems?
My name is Alin but I'm known as Alan on my DL and Passport, is it a big deal if it's only one letter off?
I'm applying for my FOID Card haven't had any problems using the name Alan in the past. I'M A U.S. CITIZEN

It can be a problem when you renew your passport. A friend of mine's name is Alana, but her birth certificate says Elana. Everything was fine until she went to get a new passport (post 9/11). Somehow, she worked it out, but it was a headache. If your run into problems in the future, you should consider getting your name changed legally.
